This could damage the part and also prevent it from working properly. Going through the systems specs and component specs carefully before you install can save you a lot of time and money.

Assembled units may be crudely constructed in terms of casing and there could be sharp edges and metallic parts which can cause injuries when you’re opening up the casing.

Static is another factor to remember when opening the casing and besides being annoying and painful, it can cause real damage to inner circuits of the computer. Clearing accumulated dust with a small hand-held vacuum cleaner is a good practice.
